Canada, France and Britain are introducing a ban on imports from from Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank, joining Ireland, Spain, the Netherlands, Norway and Belgium, which are taking similar action. Other nations, including Sweden, Poland, Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Portugal are considering similar restrictions.
In a joint statement, Prime Minister Mark Carney, British Prime Minister Andy Burnham and French President Emmanuel Macron said “systematic settlement expansion in the West Bank” poses a threat to the possibility of a two-state solution that would see the establishment of a Palestinian homeland alongside Israel.
