The heat-treated hardwood business occasionally brings in wood from the U.S. when Canadian mills can’t meet their needs, said Lennon. But when the company started including caveats about tariffs in their quotes, about half of its customers started asking where their wood is originally sourced, Erica Butler at CBC News reports.
They “would say no if it came from the U.S.,” he said.
And because the U.S. has launched new tariffs across the world, Lennon said he’s also hearing from European customers that don’t want to deal with the American companies anymore.
