The Royal Canadian Air Force is outsourcing aircraft technician training to civilian schools for the first time, with nearly 200 members currently enrolled across 10 schools.
The initiative is driven by demand for technicians ahead of new aircraft coming into service, with the RCAF’s own training academy in Borden, Ont., running at full capacity.
Lt.-Col. Meagan McGrath described the current modernization effort as the greatest the air force has undertaken since the Second World War.
