Germany is establishing its first dedicated Bundeswehr drone regiment, with up to 600 military personnel and unmanned systems covering operational ranges of up to 500 kilometers.

Defence Minister Boris Pistorius made the announcement during a visit to the Bergen military training area in Lower Saxony. The initiative reflects Germany’s effort to integrate lessons from the war in Ukraine into its land forces.

The new regiment will form part of the German Army’s 10th Panzer Division and bring together aerial and ground-based unmanned systems, loitering munitions, and electronic warfare capabilities.
