At the Canada Investment Summit, Bell Canada (BCE Inc.) announced plans to quadruple the capacity of its artificial-intelligence data centre operations in Saskatchewan, with ambitions to provide up to 1.2 gigawatts of compute power across three new facilities in the province through a series of investments that could top $50 billion.
The buildout would build on the company’s current 300-megawatt project currently under construction in Sherwood, Saskatchewan. It will follow the same structure, where Bell will build the physical facility and arrange for power and internet connections. Commercial partners, meanwhile, will provide the compute technology.
Bell said the project’s total capital investment could exceed $50 billion. This would mark the largest private capital investment in Saskatchewan’s history, Prime Minister Mark Carney said on stage. He added that Bell’s AI Fabric is the largest sovereign AI infrastructure network in Canada.
