Aidan Gomez, co-founder and CEO of Canadian AI company Cohere, said, “We have many strengths in terms of data centres. We have a cold climate, we have clean energy. We are very well positioned to become a superpower in data centres to the world. We can do that if we choose to.”
Gomez said, “I think what we have to do is win the social lease to do that. We have to prove that many of the concerns, things like water consumption, energy consumption, carbon output, these very valid concerns that the public has – that we aren’t executing on building data centres in the same way as others around the world.
“We are in a unique position to do it the right way and do it well, and it would give our country extraordinary leverage on the world stage.”
