Premier Wab Kinew pitched investors on plans to expand Manitoba’s Port of Churchill, saying his government will offer tax breaks on spending related to the project.
Premier Kinew said Manitoba will offer a provincial sales-tax exemption on major capital investments related to what his government calls the Port of Churchill Plus project.
“What we’re here to say is that Manitoba is a maritime province. We have a port that is in operation right now that can get you to the EU more quickly than other ports in Canada. And that we have a tremendous investment opportunity with LNG and energy exports from Manitoba,” he said. “We’re willing to do the deal-making to make this thing happen.”
