The trade war the U.S. president is waging against Canada will ultimately prove itself to be a good thing, says Cyrus Madon, executive chair of Brookfield Private Equity.
“This is the greatest gift that anybody could have given our country,” Madon told the Canadian Global Growth Forum on Monday. “Like unbelievable, because it’s forcing us to focus on what really matters.”
“Every level of government now is talking about how do we create jobs, how do we track capital? How do we create certainty for investors? How do we grow our GDP per capita? Nobody talked about that ever, ever. It’s only now,” he said.
